About EANDC

Since 1982, the East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation (EANDC) has been dedicated to revitalizing and strengthening communities in Summit and Stark Counties.  In these 40+ years, EANDC has worked to rebuild neighborhoods, protect property values, and help residents build secure, fulfilling lives. Through impactful programs like first time home buyer classes, financial literacy education, and energy efficiency assistance, EANDC supports local families in creating stable, healthy futures.  With over 600 housing units and 1,500 tenants, EANDC is a trusted leader in community development.

EANDC started from grassroots organizing efforts in the 1970s, founded on the vision of empowering the Akron community residents through safe, affordable housing.  Over the decades, EANDC has continued to innovate with new senior housing developments, affordable units for veterans, and homeownership opportunities across Summit and Stark counties. By transforming properties, enhancing neighborhoods, and helping families find homes that fit their needs and budgets, EANDC is not only fulfilling immediate housing needs but also enabling individuals and families to pursue the American Dream of homeownership. Through projects like Middlebury Commons and I Promise Housing, EANDC is creating spaces of pride, where residents find community and stability close to home. Today, EANDC remains financially sound and committed to its founding principles, ensuring that future generations have access to affordable, quality housing that allows them to build their futures right in Akron.
