Thursday,  January 18, join us for a community meeting in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Summit County and Summit County Public Health to share your ideas for the East Akron Reborn revitalization efforts. Project planners want to know what's happening in your neighborhood and what projects you want to see happen!

Class 1 Thursday October 5th 6pm-8pm

Class 2 Thursday October 12th 6pm-8pm

Class 3 Thursday October 19th 6pm-8pm

Class 4 Thursday October 26th 6pm-8pm

These classes are designed to help you achieve long-term, successful homeownership.

Topics Covered:

  • Money Management

  • Setting Financial Goals

  • Understanding Credit

  • The Mortgage Loan Process

  • Shopping for a Home

  • Fair Housing

  • Home Maintenance


Once you complete the eight-hour (four, 2-hour sessions) HomeToday session, you will meet with a professional HUD Credit Counselor for an Individual Counseling Session.


The Individual Counseling Session reinforces the fundamentals of successful homeownership and encourages you to establish and maintain your credit. Credit Reports are pulled, and Action Plans are created with recommendations to assist you in your journey of homeownership and beyond.


Classes are currently being held online. You will be emailed a Zoom link before class.


If you have any questions about the course, you may call our Center for Homeownership’s direct line at (330) 724-0244. These classes are free of charge.

On Wednesday, March 29 from 1:30 to 3:00 EANDC is hosting a Ward 5 Town Hall meeting featuring Councilwoman Tara Mosley and City of Akron Police Chief Steve Mylett. 

Come learn about City initiatives and bring your questions about City services.  EANDC is located at 550 S. Arlington. Parking is in the rear and we are served by multiple METRO RTA bus lines; call us at 330-773-6838 for site details.

Project Information

Who: A total of approximately 180 volunteers from the City of Akron, Akron Parks Collaborative, Sierra, and KABOOM!

Work is available for volunteers of all levels of skill and ability.

**Please note - All youth under the legal working age for this state will not be able to participate.**

When: Wednesday, 10/5 - Friday, 10/7, 8:00 am - 3:00 pm DAILY

Where: Talbot/Whitney Park

What's Provided: Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and bottled water will be provided. Gloves and other safety materials will be provided for the projects that require them.

What to Wear: The project will happen rain or shine. Please come dressed for the weather. Closed-toe shoes are required; sneakers or work boots that you don't mind getting dirty are advisable. Please leave valuables at home as secure storage is not available on site.

47th Annual Labor Day Parade: Celebrate with Neighborhood

The 47th Annual East Akron Labor Day Parade will step off on Monday, September 5, 2022 at 10 a.m. Starting at 7th Ave. and S. Arlington St. the Parade will head south to Concord St.

The Parade is an opportunity to commemorate the successes that our community has made over the past year and serve as a rallying point for future neighborhood efforts and improvements. It will feature 40-plus units, including marching bands, novelty, and musical units, clubs, community groups, schools, and elected officials.
