Housing Counselor

Salary Range: $18,000 - $20,000
Work Hours: Part-time (24 hours per week) - some evenings and four Saturdays per year
Reporting Party: Director of Homeownership
Work Location: Main Office - 550 S. Arlington, Akron OH 44306

The Housing Counselor is responsible for working to provide comprehensive counseling services and marketing homeownership programs that embodies EANDC’s mission by providing practical homeownership opportunities and increasing financial independence in the community. The Housing Counselor will work with clients to facilitate the process toward the attainment of established client goals. The Housing Counselor, under the supervision of the Director of Homeownership will provide housing and financial counseling and targeted outreach.

Provide Individual Counseling Sessions

  • Provide Pre purchase counseling in the areas of budgeting and credit counseling
  • Provide Foreclosure intervention counseling
  • Maintain client files with required intake and counseling documents
  • Negotiate with lenders/advocate for clients
  • Track client progression/document in Client Management System
  • Link clients with appropriate resources and social services

Maintain Client Files

  • Ensure customer confidentiality and protection through proper procedures and according to HUD guidelines
  • Retain physical files according to HUD guidelines

Assist with Education Classes

  • Assist with class preparation
  • Teach classes as needed

Complete/Maintain Training Certifications

  • Attend NeighborWorks Training Institute as needed
  • Receive HUD Housing Counselor Certification
  • Maintain certifications with continue education as required

Marketing and Outreach

  • Provide general information about housing opportunities
  • Conduct community outreach and marketing to meet program goals
  • Raise awareness about critical housing topics such as predatory lending and fair housing
  • Work with local agencies to affirm of fair housing

Assist with the Overall Operations of the Department

  • Assist in establishing positive relationship with clients, partners and other housing counseling agencies
  • Complete program reporting as requested

Program Specialist

Salary Range: $17,000 - $19,000
Work Hours: Part-time (24 hours per week), 8:00am to 4:30pm)
Reporting Party: VP of Residential Services
Work Location: Main Office - 550 S. Arlington, Akron OH 44306

The Program Specialist is responsible for scheduling the energy auditors and providing administrative duties that embody EANDC’s mission by providing quality housing and revitalizing communities. The Program Specialist will communicate with clients through initial marketing contact, scheduling the energy audit, answering client calls and providing client follow-up. The Program Specialist, under the supervision of the Vice President of Residential Services, provides support to the Energy Services department.

Communicate with Clients, Auditors and Management

  • Scheduled energy audit appointments, and provide the appointment to the appropriate person
  • Maintain communication with auditors regarding availability, appointment no-shows, client needs
  • Report scheduling numbers and any issues to the V.P

Complete Client Approvals and Maintain Paperwork

  • Approve clients per the funders process
  • Print and File all client paperwork necessary for each client
  • Make necessary phone calls if paperwork, or eligibility information is missing

Provide Quality Assurance

  • Perform quality assurance calls and mailings
  • Execute quality assurance on client files

Develop and Sustain a Level of Professionalism among Staff and Clientele

  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

At EANDC we may require other duties that are not in the standard job description be performed as needed or requested by the Vice President of Residential Services.

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-3 years of experience in customer service in an office setting
